Palantir’s systems in Israel show what happens when surveillance, targeting, logistics, and population control are fused into one machine.
Israel has used Palantir software since 2014. That relationship grew during the war on Gaza after October 2023. In January 2024, Palantir signed a strategic partnership with Israel’s Ministry of Defense.
This matters in the United States because the same company is already embedded across American military, intelligence, border, health, tax, and domestic security systems. This architecture did not stay overseas. It is already here.

The targeting machine
Palantir’s Gotham platform pulls together communications, surveillance feeds, movement data, reports, and identity records into one operational picture. It gives military and intelligence operators a way to sort people, places, and relationships inside a single system.
In Gaza, that kind of system has been tied to the targeting ecosystem around Lavender, Gospel, and Where’s Daddy. Palantir’s technology has been linked to systems used to build massive target banks and speed up strike decisions.
The mechanics are simple. The system takes phone contacts, location data, social graphs, intercepted communications, video, and watchlists, then turns that material into ranked recommendations. That lets a military move through names and buildings at speed. Reporting on comparable Palantir-linked targeting systems described target banks containing tens of thousands of entries, including up to 35,000 suspected Hamas combatants.
The point is scale. A machine built to process thousands of lives as entries in a queue can be pointed anywhere.
The reporting on Lavender makes the process even uglier. Investigations described kill lists reaching roughly 37,000 names. Sources in that reporting said the system carried an error rate around 10 percent and that human review could be as short as 20 seconds before approval.
People were reduced to entries, scores, and timing windows.

A digital map of human life
Another part of the system is a digital twin of Gaza: a living map of people, buildings, relationships, and movements.
A phone linked to one person can lead to family members, neighbors, apartment buildings, workplaces, mosques, roads, and delivery routes. A place becomes suspicious because a person was flagged. Then everyone connected to that place gets dragged into the same net.
This is how population control works when it becomes software. A person stops being one person. They become a node inside a map. Their family becomes an extension of the file. Their home becomes a point of interest. Their movement becomes a pattern. Their neighborhood becomes a risk field.
That same logic already exists inside U.S. systems. Border surveillance, gang databases, fusion centers, predictive policing, visa overstay tracking, deportation targeting, and federal data integration all run on the same premise: pull enough data into one place and the machine will tell the state who matters, who is risky, and who should be acted on.

Predictive policing by another name
Palantir’s tools in Palestine have been tied to predictive policing and preemptive identification of people considered likely to commit future acts.
People do not have to do anything first. A machine decides they fit a pattern. They live in the wrong place, know the wrong people, carry the wrong phone, show up at the wrong mosque, attend the wrong protest, or move in a way the system flags as suspicious. After that, they stop being treated like a person. They become a score.
That logic is already installed in the United States. ICE has used Palantir tools for years to generate leads, rank people for deportation, and track visa overstays and so-called self-deportations. Other federal agencies have used Palantir systems to manage health data, fraud detection, logistics, and cross-agency analysis.
The question is not whether this model can come here. It already did.

What this looked like on the ground
The results are not abstract. They are bodies, wreckage, missing limbs, starving children, and rows of dead aid workers.
By mid-March 2024, Gaza health authorities reported more than 31,000 Palestinians killed and more than 72,000 injured since October 7. UN officials said at least 12,300 children had already been killed in about four months, more than the number of children killed in conflicts worldwide during the previous four years combined. Reports from the same period said one in four people in Gaza was facing catastrophic hunger, with hundreds of thousands close to famine.
These numbers sit beside the targeting systems. A machine throwing out massive target lists with a known error rate does not stay clean. It lands somewhere. It lands on apartment blocks, refugee camps, roads, schools, hospitals, aid convoys, and families.
You can see the outcome in plain photographs from Gaza. Rubble fields where neighborhoods used to stand. White shrouds lined in rows. Ambulances mangled by strikes. The systems people talk about in polished language end in crushed concrete and dead children.

Humanitarian control in Gaza, food control in the U.S.
After surveillance and targeting comes control over survival.
In Gaza, Palantir has a permanent desk at the U.S.-led Civil Military Coordination Center in southern Israel, where aid convoys into Gaza are coordinated through live drone feeds. A Palantir representative sits in the operations room, watching screens and entering data about truck routes, cargo, and distribution points directly into Palantir’s systems.
Palantir provides the technological architecture for tracking the delivery and distribution of aid to Gaza, using Foundry, Gotham, and a battlefield visualization tool called Gaia. Foundry is their supply-chain platform. Gaia maps the battlespace in real time. The same stack that tracks targets is plugged into the flow of food, medicine, and fuel.
Reporting on the CMCC says the distinction between death by drone and delivery of aid is disappearing in that room. The same software that tracks convoys and warehouses can feed data back into Gotham’s targeting environment through a feature Palantir calls Type Mapping, which allows civilian logistics data to sync directly with military systems.
One system holds both sides: who gets bombed and who gets fed.
The next step is prediction. Palantir sells its platforms on the promise of predictive intelligence. The same pattern-matching logic built for counterterrorism is now pointed at supply chains. In the USDA deal, Palantir is being paid $300 million to build a real-time platform that ingests farm sensors, weather satellites, disease surveillance, import records, and logistics data so officials can anticipate disease outbreaks, shortages, and disruptions in the food system before they fully hit.
The pitch is simple: connect everything, predict risks, act early. In practice, that means the system can flag specific regions, crops, companies, or corridors as high-risk nodes inside the food network. Once that label exists on a dashboard, officials and corporate partners can use it to justify blocking shipments, rerouting supplies, tightening inspections, or freezing funding to that area in the name of safety or resilience.
There is already a working example of how this logic plays out. During the pandemic, Tyson Foods used Palantir’s software to forecast COVID-19 infections among meatpacking workers so the company could plan around plant closures and labor shortages. The data was used to protect production and supply, not the workers standing inside those plants. Forecasts became a management tool aimed downward.
Put that logic into Gaza or into a future domestic crisis. A neighborhood, city, or region gets flagged as a security risk, a diversion risk, or a contamination risk inside a Palantir-run food model. That flag can then be used to slow or cut shipments, redirect trucks, or hold aid at a staging area indefinitely. No soldier has to stand in the road. The system can throttle a region by changing how it classifies the risk.
The timing makes all of this worse. UN reporting warned of mass hunger and children dying of dehydration while the aid system was being watched, sorted, and managed through the same kind of software architecture tied to military operations. A system sitting at the spigot of food in a starving territory is never neutral. It has power over who eats, who waits, who moves, and who gets cut off.
In Gaza, the system can see where food goes and where it does not. In the United States, the USDA deal gives Palantir a role in the structure that knows where food is grown, where it is stored, where it moves, and where the weak points are in the national food chain.
That means the same logic used to classify people and spaces for targeting can classify communities and regions for food access. If a county, city, or distribution corridor is flagged as unstable, contaminated, criminal, politically hostile, or vulnerable to “diversion,” the software can justify throttling what goes in. The dashboard does not need to say “punish.” It only needs to say “risk.”
Food control under software does not require tanks in the street. It requires classifications, thresholds, and a chain of decision-makers willing to obey the screen.

The World Central Kitchen pattern
The World Central Kitchen convoy attack showed what precision looks like under this kind of system.
On April 1, 2024, seven World Central Kitchen workers were killed after three clearly marked aid vehicles were hit in sequence by Israeli strikes after unloading more than 100 tons of food in Deir al-Balah. The convoy had coordinated its movements with the IDF. The vehicles were hit separately along the route as they moved away.
The convoy was known, marked, tracked, and still destroyed. Three vehicles. Seven dead aid workers. Food unloaded into a starving territory, then the convoy wiped out.
More data did not protect aid workers. The machine saw more, tracked more, knew more, and people still died.
Advanced systems do not become humane because they are advanced. They become more efficient.

Anduril, Palantir, and the kill chain
This is where the picture widens.
Palantir does the targeting. Anduril builds the systems that move, track, and kill.
Anduril’s Lattice system is sold as software that can run an entire kill chain: pulling in data from towers, drones, radars, and satellites; using computer vision and AI to classify targets; tracking them; recommending weapons; cueing those weapons; and then assessing the damage and feeding the results back into the loop.
Anduril’s drones and loitering munitions plug into that system. The company has built kamikaze drones and autonomous systems for programs like the Pentagon’s Replicator initiative, which aims to field thousands of small, cheap, networked drones that can be thrown into a war zone and left to hunt targets.
In December 2024, Palantir and Anduril announced a formal consortium. Palantir brings its AI Platform, Maven Smart System, and theater-wide intelligence fusion. Anduril brings Lattice and edge-compute systems built to work with troops, drones, and autonomous weapons. The plan is direct: Palantir’s intelligence products flow into automated or semi-automated targeting pipelines that Lattice then uses to orchestrate robotic systems and weapons.
This is not theoretical. Palantir already underpins parts of the Pentagon’s Maven Smart System and TITAN programs. Anduril’s systems are already used by U.S. Special Operations Command for automated surveillance, counter-drone operations, and base defense. Both firms have already received Army-related work tied to robotic combat vehicles and autonomous military integration. The pipeline is live.
Put that together with Gaza. On one side, Palantir-style systems pull in phone data, movement, communications, and social graphs, then generate target lists and live maps. On the other, Anduril-style systems move drones and munitions across a battlefield based on those targets.
One part of the empire scores people. Another part sends the machine that kills them.
Peter Thiel’s network sits on both ends of that wire. He co-founded Palantir. His Founders Fund heavily backed Anduril, and Anduril’s founders came out of the same Thiel and Palantir orbit. This is not a loose ideological overlap. It is the same power network building both the targeting software and the hardware for autonomous warfare.

“An occupied nation”: what insiders say
Former Palantir insiders have said the quiet part out loud.
A former Palantir executive said Palantir’s intent was to take over the U.S. government. He said many of his former colleagues are now embedded across federal agencies. His phrase for the result was “an occupied nation.”
Thirteen former Palantir employees — engineers, managers, and a member of the company’s privacy team — signed a letter shared with NPR warning that internal guardrails meant to prevent discrimination, disinformation, and abuse of power have been violated and are being stripped away.
Other whistleblower and legal commentary adds more detail. Palantir’s Foundry platform has been described as a system capable of pulling in financial records, health data, communication logs, gun ownership records, Social Security and tax records, and partner data like social media metadata, then welding those datasets into government dashboards with predictive scoring and real-time decision support.
The public rarely sees how those systems are wired. The contracts are hidden. The logic is hidden. The scoring is hidden. The people who do see the inside of the machine are some of the same people now warning that the guardrails are gone.

Thiel, Karp, and the blueprint
The ideology is not hidden either. Peter Thiel and Alex Karp have both said enough in public to show the shape of what they want.
Peter Thiel has argued that freedom and democracy are not compatible. He has treated democratic restraints as obstacles to elite rule and technological power. His worldview is built around the idea that the people who own and build the platforms should dominate the political order.
Alex Karp has put his own version of that worldview into Palantir’s 22-point manifesto tied to The Technological Republic. In that framework, Silicon Valley has a moral duty to serve the state, software becomes the foundation of hard power, and engineers are expected to move out of consumer apps and into weapons, surveillance, defense, and intelligence systems.
Karp has argued that hard power in this century will be built on software. He has pushed the idea that the United States should seriously consider some form of national service or draft. He presents this as shared sacrifice. In practice it points toward a more militarized society where war, surveillance, infrastructure, and software are fused.
Take all of that together and the outline is clear. A private technology class builds the systems. The systems fuse data from every part of life. Those systems move into the military, police, borders, food chains, health systems, tax systems, and emergency management. The same companies then argue that this is patriotic, necessary, and morally urgent.
The likely outcomes are not hard to imagine because many of them are already visible. More predictive policing. More automated targeting. More control over food, movement, work, and access. More hidden scoring systems making life-and-death decisions. More power flowing away from the public and into software companies tied to the national security state.

The U.S. installation
It is not enough to say this could happen here. It already has.
Palantir is already wired into the federal government. Its software has been deployed across agencies including Homeland Security and Health and Human Services, and reporting says efforts have been made to connect additional datasets from agencies like the Social Security Administration and IRS into the same data environment.
ICE has used Palantir for deportation targeting, lead generation, and tracking operations. Federal health and logistics systems have used Palantir platforms for pandemic response, fraud detection, and operational management. The company is inside the machinery that sees movement, money, health, and identity.
On the military side, the integration is just as real. Palantir and Anduril are already part of U.S. defense modernization, AI targeting, robotic combat systems, base defense, and real-time battle management. This is not a warning about an experiment that might begin someday. It is a description of a structure that is active now.
The danger is not only what these systems can do at their peak. The danger is that they become normal. Once that happens, people stop seeing the machinery around them. They accept that borders are algorithmic, policing is predictive, war is software-defined, aid is risk-scored, and food access is something a dashboard can quietly shape.

The warning
Gaza shows the endpoint. Human beings become searchable objects inside a live system. Their relationships become links. Their homes become nodes. Their movement becomes a pattern. Their survival becomes a logistics variable. Their death becomes a recommendation in a queue.
The people building and defending these systems call that intelligence, efficiency, and operational clarity. The record coming out of Gaza shows something colder. Life becomes data. Data becomes action.
